Dr. Asaf Shamis

Dr. Shamis is currently serving as a teaching fellow at the University of Haifa under the auspices of the Returning Scientists Program. He is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (BA & MA), the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (Ph.D) and Columbia University (Postdoc). Dr. Asaf Shamis is a political scientist in training. He has published works in political theory, history of Zionism, media history and present-day Israeli politics. Dr. Shamis is currently working on two major research projects. The first is a comprehensive overview of the Israeli Premiership from the days of David Ben-Gurion up to the present day. He is also working on his first book entitled Hidden Medium: Studies in the Material Dimension of Political Thought. In the book offers a novel way of looking at the great political texts of the past by reconstructing the historical media landscapes in which they were originally produced.
